I was thinking about diamonds today – not the kind on which you play baseball – the kind with multiple facets and value. It was at that moment that I realized we are all diamonds of one kind or another – multiply faceted and valuable to ourselves, our families, our communities, and – hopefully – our employers. Many have expressed these sentiments about "being" and "becoming." Below are their words about talent, belief, beginnings, wisdom, achievement, choice, clarity, action, fulfillment, happiness, and life.

About Talent
When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, "I used everything you gave me. -- Erma Louise Bombeck

About Belief
The trouble is that not enough people have come together with the firm determination to live the things which they say they believe.--Eleanor Roosevelt

About Beginnings
The world is round and the place which may seem like the end may also be the beginning.--Ivy Baker Priest

About Wisdom
The great thing about getting older is that you don't lose all the other ages you've been.-- Madeline L'Engle

About Becoming
Life is a process. We are a process. Everything that has happened in our lives has happened for a reason and is an integral part of our becoming. -- Anne Wilson Schaef

About Achievement
I can remember walking as a child. It was not customary to say you were fatigued. It was customary to complete the goal of the expedition. -- Katharine Hepburn

About Choice
Fame or integrity: which is more important?
Money or happiness: which is more valuable?
Success or failure: which is more destructive?
If you look to others for fulfillment, you will never truly be fulfilled.
If your happiness depends on money, you will never be happy with yourself.
Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are.
When you realize that nothing is lacking, the whole world belongs to you!
--Lao Tzu, Chinese Philosopher

About Clarity
We all start out in our lives as little children, full of light and the clearest vision. -- Brenda Ueland

About Committees
What is a committee? A group of the unwilling, picked from the unfit, to do the unnecessary. -- Richard Harkness

About Doers and Whiners
People can be divided into two classes: those who go ahead and do something, and those who sit still and inquire, 'Why wasn't it done the other way?' -- Oliver Wendell Holmes

"You must take Action now that will move you towards your goals. Develop a sense of urgency in your life." -- Les Brown

About Enthusiasm
A mediocre idea that generates enthusiasm will go further than a great idea that inspires no one. -- Mary Kay Ash

About Fulfillment and Happiness
People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness. Just because they're not on your road doesn't mean they've gotten lost. -- H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

About Inner Peace
"The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be." -- Anne Frank
